Why Connex Exists
Africa is home to resilient, resourceful people. But too often, the tools we rely on every day are fragmented — one app for messaging, another for news, another for utility updates, yet another for education resources. Meanwhile, safety concerns go unaddressed because there is no quick, reliable way to reach the people who matter most when danger strikes.
Connex was born from a simple observation: people across Africa deserve a single platform that understands local realities. Power disruptions are not just an inconvenience — they affect businesses, education, and safety. Community alerts should not be buried in social media feeds. Study resources should be free and accessible to every learner, not locked behind paywalls. And when someone feels unsafe, help should be one press away — not three apps and a phone call.
We set out to build the app Africa has been waiting for. Not a copy of something built elsewhere and adapted as an afterthought, but something designed from the ground up for the opportunities and challenges across this continent. Every feature, every design decision, and every line of code reflects the lived experience of African communities.

The safety of our users is non-negotiable. From the SOS emergency feature to real-time community alerts, every part of Connex is designed to help people look out for one another. When you feel unsafe, help is one press away.
Universal Access
Connex is free to download and free to use. We believe essential tools — messaging, alerts, education — should never be locked behind a paywall. Access to information and safety is a right, not a privilege.
Community Powered
The strongest networks are built by the people who use them. Connex combines official data with community-sourced reports to create a living, real-time picture of what is happening in your area — powered by your neighbours.

Your data belongs to you. We are fully POPIA compliant, we never sell personal information, and we build privacy into the architecture of every feature. Transparency is not a policy — it is how we operate.
Education for All
Every learner across Africa deserves access to quality study materials. Connex starts with free DBE matric past papers for Grades 10 through 12, with no registration walls, no subscriptions, and no hidden costs.

Phase 0 — Infrastructure
Cloud infrastructure, database architecture, authentication systems, and the foundational backend services that power the entire platform. The invisible layer that makes everything else possible.
Phase 1 — MVP: Chat, Alerts & Education
Real-time messaging for individuals and groups. Community and official alerts covering loadshedding, water, safety, traffic, weather, and community updates. Free matric past papers for Grades 10-12. Emergency SOS with trusted contacts.
Phase 2 — Connex Pay
A digital wallet built for Africa. Peer-to-peer transfers, bill payments, airtime purchases, and merchant payments — making financial transactions as simple as sending a message.
Phase 3 — Connex Clips
Short-form video content created by and for Africans. A creator economy that celebrates local talent, culture, and storytelling — giving every voice a platform to be heard.
Phase 4 — Connex Logistics
Ride-hailing, food delivery, grocery shopping, and parcel services. A logistics layer that connects people with the services they need, delivered by local drivers and businesses.
